Dr. Lisa Collis, a native of Brandon, Manitoba earned her Bachelor of Science
in Zoology from Brandon University and then her Master of Science in Anatomy and Cell Biology from the University of Toronto.
During her graduate studies she worked in the research department of the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto. She received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon
in 2004 and joined our veterinary practice in June 2004.
Dr Collis has a special interest in skin disease,
diabetes and kidney disease. She is a member of the Canadian Academy of Veterinary Dermatology.
For the past 3 years Dr Collis has served on the Edmonton Association of Small Animal Veterinarians (EASAV)
board of directors as the Coordinator for continuing education activities for the local veterinary community.
In 2010-2011 she serves as EASAV’s President. She volunteers with the University of Calgary
Veterinary Medicine program as a mentor and communication coach with veterinary students. In July of 2010
she received an award by the Canadian Veterinary Medical Association (CVMA) when she was selected as one of 22 young veterinarians
to attend the CVMA’s “Emerging Veterinary Leaders Program”.
She achieved grade 10 in piano and sang with the Brandon University Conservatory Chamber Choir for 10 years.
Dr. Collis and her husband Chad, have 2 cats “Douglas” and “Vincent”, and a Sheltie
named "Eddy".
In September 2010 Dr Collis will join Dr Keeler on the MS Mountain Bike tour to raise funds for the MS Society
of Canada.
In her spare
time, Lisa enjoys camping, hiking, yoga, sewing, baking and looking after houseplants, if her cats don’t eat them first.
In the summer time she is an avid gardener.
