Kacey Carey Veterinary Assistant

Kacey is excited to be the newest member of the Delton team! Born and raised in BC, Kacey has lived in Edmonton for a number of years… But wherever she goes, you can be sure she’ll find something furry, scaley or feathery to learn about and love! She developed an interest in animals at a very young age; when asked what she wanted to be as a toddler, her response was consistently ‘peterinarian’. Despite being unable to pronounce the V properly, she knew without a doubt that her future career would involve animals! After graduating high school, she wasn’t sure where exactly she wanted to head in the veterinary field… Through her volunteering with local rescues and clinics, she discovered she loved the hands-on, technical aspect of being a veterinary technician. She is currently in her second year at NAIT in their Animal Health Technology program and hopes to be a licensed and certified Veterinary Technician this time next year!

Kacey has a menagerie of animals at home, almost all of which are rescues…  Skye, a black and tan 3-year-old lab-pittie mix, Zoya, a 2-year-old blue and white APBT Pitbull, 9-year-old feline siblings Apollo, a long-haired tabby and Eclipse, a long-haired calico, and Hyperion, a 5-year-old long-haired Siamese/Ragdoll mix make up the furry side of the family. The scaly side includes Amanar, a 3-year-old anery red tailed boa constrictor, Nagini, a 7-year ball python, and the newest member of the family, Newt, a juvenile gargoyle gecko! Kacey also regularly fosters, acting as a medical and whelping/queening foster for several Alberta rescues.

Kacey is most excited to be able to learn and continue advancing her knowledge and skills under the leadership and mentorship of the other employees at Delton… Despite her short time at the clinic, she has grown significantly under the guidance of experienced RVT Lisa, as well as the rest of the team, and looks forward to continuing her career into the world of Veterinary Technology with them supporting her!
