Euthanasia Services for Pets

Here at Delton Veterinary Hospital, we are pet owners just like you. We understand saying goodbye to your furry family members is a pain unlike no other. If after consultations with our veterinarians, you decide that a humane euthanasia is the best option for your pet, please know we will be with you every step of the way. To learn more about how our team can help you through this process, please do not hesitate to call us at (780) 475-9225.

What is pet euthanasia? How do I know when it’s the right time for my pet to be euthanized?
Euthanasia is a medically induced way for your pet to cross the rainbow bridge. At the end of the day, the decision will always be up to you and your family. During a private consultation with your veterinarian, they will explain to you all of the options available. Pets who have a terminal illness that can no longer be managed with pain medication are examples of good candidates for euthanasia.

How is the euthanasia drug administered?
Here at Delton Veterinary Hospital, our team administers the medication through IV drip. Initially, it will cause your pet to fall into a peaceful sleep. Once unconscious, their organs will begin to fail. The procedure is complete in a matter of minutes.

Does your hospital provide bereavement counseling?
Even after the euthanasia has been administered, our team will continue to be here to support you and your loved ones. Please do not hesitate to ask us any questions about the loss of your pet, and feel free to reach out to us for more details on some highly useful resources and support groups we recommend.

Dear Clients,

With recent changes to restrictions on businesses, below are some important updates to our operating policies.

1. WE CAN NOW SEE ALL CASES BY APPOINTMENT ONLY

This includes vaccines, wellness exams, blood work, heartworm testing, spays and neuters, dental services, and more!

2. SAFETY MEASURES TO KEEP EVERYONE SAFE

  • Continue our "closed waiting room" policy to protect our clients and staff. When you arrive, please remain outside the hospital and use your cell phone to call us. We will take a history of your pet's health and discuss any concerns. A staff member will then meet you outside to bring your pet into the hospital for an examination. The Veterinarian will call you to discuss the recommended treatment plan. After your appointment, a staff member will return your pet to you outside, and take care of any needed medications and payment.
  • Continue the use of credit cards as the preferred payment method.
  • Continue with curbside pickup of food and medication (unless you have used our online store and are having your order delivered directly to your home). To place an order through our online store, visit our website and click on "Online Store".
  • 3. ONLINE CONSULTATIONS ARE AVAILABLE

If you wish to connect with a veterinarian via message, phone or video, visit our website and follow the "Online Consultation" link.

    4. OPERATING HOURS

  • Monday to Saturday: 8:30 am - 5:30 pm
  • Sundays: CLOSED
  • Note: We are closed daily for lunch between 1:00 - 2:00 pm.

Thank you for your patience and understanding and we look forward to seeing you and your furry family members again!
